A CMM is an instrument used to collect measurement values of three-dimensional objects, mainly used for measuring the dimensions and tolerances of complex parts. It moves a high-precision probe on the surface of the object and records the spatial position information of each contact point, thus determining the dimensions, shape, and position of the object.
The measurement functions of CMM include dimensional accuracy, positioning accuracy, geometric accuracy, profile accuracy, etc. Its basic composition includes a detector that can move in three directions, moving on three mutually perpendicular guide rails. It transmits signals through contact or non-contact methods, and calculates the coordinates (x, y, z) of each point of the workpiece and performs various functional measurements through a data processor or a computer.
The CMM is widely used in many fields such as machinery manufacturing, mold manufacturing, automobile manufacturing, and electronics and electrical appliances. It is an indispensable measuring tool in modern industry.
